We have lived abroad several times. I can remember what it is like to be off on an adventure.
Exciting, making new friends, seeing new things, figuring out where - and putting things into - their proper place (because everything has a spot, even if it is a new one or just one for the moment). It's sometimes overwhelming and difficult; there are joyful family and friend visits; - all this is bundled up in a fast-paced newness.
Sometimes it can be lonely, even when it's not sad. There's just a little longing for familiarity... Time moves us through - to where new things are no longer new but have become familiar. Kinda like looking at the same moon and stars, just knowing that in our "long ago and far away" life, our friends and family are going about their everydayness somehow makes our transplanted days a little sweeter.
Blessings to you and yours my friend. And as always, wishing you... Grace for the day.
